‘Moon Howlers’….. My first attempt at oil painting since that 8th grade kerfuffle [those hornets know who you are]… a nearly 65 year gap. This vision came together recollecting a TV broadcast of hurricane winds trashing and whipping a tree line along some lonely stretch of beach in Florida… It crystalized while sitting in the bathroom [a good place for contemplation] and musing at the dimples and squiggles on various ceramic floor tiles; I noticed a line, a ripple, a certain elevation in the tile that resembled those trees looking over a vast expanse of flat. Not quite the Martin Luther tower experience, but it proved moving and lead to a grove of trees high up on a bluff, seemingly to howl at the moon as the desert winds at moonrise rustled their supple limbs. My first oil painting [indeed first painting period]… small yet it felt so at home; Lord willing a chance to explore the path not taken but best, getting back into the joy of creating. A new purpose as time allows...
