Bulrushes in Moonlight: Charleston being one of my favorite living museums, the low country, history and indeed the natural beauty of it all holds a special place in my mind. This painting escaped one afternoon, just a little sketching from cobbled together memories walking her streets, visiting the surrounding beaches & fanciful images from plantations long gone as this doesn’t exist for real. [as a northerner, I recall moving south and someone commenting on the 'live oaks', some dating back nearly a thousand years. 'Live oak' as opposed to 'dead oak?' I wondered, until I realized unlike up north, they didn't shed their leaves as Fall approached... interesting.]
